Robert Nguyen
Founder · Hanoi-based · 15yr DMC experience
"Hard Seat is backpacker tier only · wooden or vinyl bench · no padding · I genuinely don't recommend it for paying clients except short hops under 4hr (Hanoi-Ninh Binh 2hr at $8 is fine). For Hanoi-Sapa overnight at $15 vs 4-Berth at $45 · save the $30 by skipping the train · take a sleeper bus instead. The wooden bench overnight is impossible · I've seen backpackers regret this choice every time. Soft Seat at $25 is $10 more and dramatically more comfortable."
